MP for Angus Dave Doogan is highlighting the opportunity to support The Abbey Theatre Club with their upcoming production of Hallowe’en and Hogmanay this April.

The show which will run from 18-23 April is about three monks in a monastery who get up to all sorts of jolly japes.

The Abbey Theatre Club describes the comedy show as joining in with the escapades of the Merry Monks of Cambusdonald for Hallowe’en and Hogmanay. As celebrations begin, Brother Barnabus has a few illicit visitors in his room. Helped by Brothers Donatus and Simon, it’s a race against time to get them out before the Abbot discovers them. A guid auld Scots comedy!

The Abbey Theatre, which sits 90 people, is a volunteer led organisation and relies on the sales of their six shows per year to fund the future of the theatre. All tickets for Hallowe’en and Hogmanay are £10.

Dave Doogan MP said:

“I am very much looking forward to seeing this production, and after my tour last year of the theatre, it will undoubtedly be a fantastic show.

“After a very tough couple of years during covid, which affected all performance sectors, I am encouraging everyone who is able to support their local theatres.

“The reality is very much that without the footfall across the door we may loose some of these theatres and this would be a terrible loss. Now is the time to get safely back into the theatre and I for one, can’t wait”

Laura Barnes from the Abbey Theatre said:

“A guid auld Scots comedy always goes down well here at The Abbey Theatre. The cast and crew are working extremely hard to put on a great show! After losing almost two full years of revenue we need as many bums on seats as possible to keep our beautiful building going.”
